About
Team Ministry
Who are our MINISTERS ? – every member –
“The Uniting Church believes every member is to be engaged in faithful service, has been given gifts to serve and must be given the opportunity to exercise those gifts”
We have a congregation who vary in age from baby to baby boomer to babies’ grandparents and great grand-parents. Everyone is encouraged to be involved in some way. Whether that be on our Church Council, as an Elder or Carer, in the Op Shop, in a myriad of roles on Sunday mornings or in one of our community engagement activities there is something for everyone.
Mission
To walk with God in the city, honouring the past transforming the present creating the future.
Vision
A Space for God in the City’s Heart.
Minister of the Word

Rev. Dr Andrew Williams
Rev. Andrew commenced at DMUC in November 2018 and helps facilitate our worship on Sunday mornings. He brings light and laughter to some cracker sermons and is not bad on guitar and flute either. But of course, Ministers don’t just work on Sundays! Rev. Andrew is responsible for caring for our community and is passionate about: mission, service, justice and building co-operative relationships with other denominations. He might describe himself as an empathetic extrovert who has travelled extensively; stretching his faith, outlook and wallet!
Community Engagement Pastor

Lauren Merrit
Diploma of Ministry, Cert IV Project Management
Lauren commenced at DMUC in January 2016 and helps facilitate our ministries that are ‘beyond Sunday’. The position began with a particular focus on the Fujita Peace Displays but now encompasses a much broader scope that includes fellowship activities for our congregation, as well as ministries with our community. Lauren is passionate about the ‘body of Christ’ using their gifts to work together, displaying love and kindness to all. She might describe herself as an invisible introvert who has travelled out of her comfort zone!
Office Administration

Myrna Tate
Myrna commenced at DMUC in 2017, works part-time taking care of everything administration and is particularly gifted at finance and MYOB. She’s our friendly voice at the end of the phone and answerer of emails. Office hours are usually Mon, Wed and Thurs 9am - 1pm and Fridays 9am to 12pm but these are subject to change from time to time. We are thankful that Myrna travelled from the Philippines to Darwin via years in Tennant Creek to be our gracious and gifted glue who holds us altogether!
